The Science of the New Anti Aging Drug HGH
There are ongoing debates about the benefits and advantages of undergoing a form of HGH therapy. For all those who are pro HGH therapy, there are as many who are against any form of therapy except in the instances when a person is diagnosed with a deficiency in the human growth hormone. I shall outline some of the ideas and theories that are thrown back and forth amongst those who are pro the drug, and those who are against.
Introduction
The human growth hormone is produced in our bodies by a gland located in the brain. When we are young, the hormone is in plentiful supply, however it tails off as we near our thirties. There are some groups who claim that increasing the quantity of HGH in our bodies will boost the natural supply and therefore the vital functions it carries out will continue throughout our lives. In other words, increasing the flow of HGH around our bodies will keep us looking and feeling young and healthy which is its primary function as young adults.
How do we boost our natural supply?
There are plenty of products available to buy that claim they contain genuine HGH and other amino acids. There are oral sprays available as well as a variety of pills and tablets. The people who are pro sprays say this is the quickest and easiest way for the amino acid to be introduced to our bloodstream as it is easily absorbed through the mouth and into the blood. The only official therapy that is used is a course of injections that medical doctors prescribe to patients who have a diagnosed hormone deficiency. So far physicians do not prescribe or even recommend an HGH spray as a way of staving off old age.
The history of the HGH debate
It was about 20 years ago when the first claims were made by pro-HGH pioneers who wrote a book touting the benefits of taking an amino acid supplement in addition to a healthy diet and exercise plan. The pros of taking the supplement they claimed helped everything from weight loss, to muscle gain to more vitality and zest for life. The book claimed a large amount of press attention and heralded the production of many products containing the vitality boosting amino acids.
Experiments and Studies
Following the release of this book, ‘anti-aging’ experts materialized and other books and ideas were brought to the table. A study took place in 1990 in which 1 group of men in their 60’s were given a placebo, and the other group were given HGH injections several times a week for 6 months. Part of the results that were produced indicated that those who had received the injections had benefited from a loss of fatty tissue and additionally an increase of lean body mass (muscle to you and I). Well, you can image the furore that this produced and many pro-HGH experts and users emerged.
Differing Opinions
Not all doctors and scientists embraced the results of this study as proof that HGH supplements benefit our health. Whilst is is accepted that the natural HGH in our bodies decrease in quantity with age, some say it is not necessarily beneficial to make the amount rise. The experiment that was carried out in 1990 and published in an American Health Journal lasted 6 months which is not long enough for the full range of side-effects to materialize. They also point out that the side effects that were noticed were brushed over in the excitement that the fountain of youth had been unearthed.
Conclusion
There will always be those who are pro the use of HGH supplements, and those who are against. There is a wealth of products on the internet as well as a mass of free information. Before deciding whether or not to join the side of the pros, gather as much information as you can in order to make an informed decision.
